Chapter 115 Meeting The Senate

  • Lucy’s POV
  • I knocked on Kenneth’s door at exactly 4:30 a.m. I knew it was early—too early—but sleep had refused to claim me. I had spent the entire night tossing and turning, replaying every possible scenario in my mind. How would the Senate react? Would they believe us? Would they dismiss us? Everything hinged on their response, and that uncertainty was enough to keep my heart pounding until dawn.
  • Kenneth opened the door on my second knock. He didn’t look surprised to see me awake at such an hour. He gestured toward an armchair near the door, asking me to sit while he disappeared into what looked like his bathroom. He was already dressed, which eased my worry that I might have jolted him out of bed. A few minutes later, he stepped out again, rubbing his cheeks—probably applying lotion, the faint scent of his cologne already filling the air.
