• Sitting beside my angel had a calming effect on me—soothing, to be precise—but deep down, I was a bundle of nerves. I wished I could just open up to her, tell her everything that was weighing me down. I longed to talk to someone about my fears, to just vent—but my boys were in another cabin, and there was no way I was leaving Lucy alone.
• I must’ve zoned out, tensed up in the process, because the next thing I felt was her soft hand on mine. Her touch—always so gentle, always so grounding—was the one thing that could calm both me and my lion. No wonder Zeus preferred her over that wannabe queen.
