• I was able to connect with Ken through Zeus’ mind without disturbing their focus, slipping into that shared mental space as carefully as one might step onto thin ice. The battlefield demanded absolute concentration. One stray distraction, one mistimed thought, and lives could be lost. 'I think we can use our powers to reveal the landmines,' I sent to him steadily, 'and even cause them to explode safely underground without causing harm to anyone.' I held my breath as I waited for his response, acutely aware that Lira and Zeus were still scanning ahead, their senses stretched to their limits.
