Chapter 37 Your Final Chance

  • Cody held Eliza’s slim body and pressed her against the door. His thin lips planted kisses from her collarbone up onto her neck before he bit onto her earlobe gently. Eliza could feel the warm air from his nose as he breathed into her ear. He was still patiently waiting for her answer. Eliza felt all her strength leaving her body as she allowed Cody to move her in whatever way he wished to. She blinked her eyes while her vision turned blurry as a result of the soreness she felt around her eyes. Even Cody’s face was starting to lose its definition as her vision deteriorated. All she heard was his deep voice that rang by her ear. He gently ran his fingertips across her smooth skin, and her body naturally reacted to his touch—her figure trembled as her red lips let out a soft gasp.
  • “This is your final chance, Eliza.” He was running out of patience. He tightened his grip around her waist as a warning sign for her. “Mr. Brooks…” Her voice was genuinely weak this time. “I’m not feeling too well…” His face fell for a moment as he realized how Eliza’s skin seemed abnormally flushed. He reached a palm out to feel her shockingly warm and sticky forehead—she wasn’t warm just because she was aroused. “F*ck. Why didn’t you tell me that you’re running a fever?” he cursed.
  • “You were lifting, kissing, and biting me; how could I have told you anything, Mr. Brooks?” Eliza still managed to bicker with him despite her high fever. “Shut up!” He was annoyed. He instantly lifted her into his arms before he carried her bridal-style into the master bedroom. She no longer resisted his touch; instead, she pressed herself onto his body and rubbed her face against his chest like an obedient kitten. She could barely open her eyelids as they felt too heavy. By the time he placed her down on his bed, she had completely passed out. Her ill and weak condition made Cody extremely anxious—he had never seen her pass out before his own eyes. His bony fingers were trembling as he held onto his phone tightly while calling for the doctor to come over. The pounding in his chest refused to slow down even after he got off the call. He felt his heart shattering as he watched the woman shivering on his bed while she suffered from a high fever. All he felt in that moment was a genuine ache in his chest.
