Chapter 26 Give Up on That Thought

  • There’s no harm in being the first to take a step back and admit my mistakes, Eliza thought to herself. However, Cody continued to ignore her although the speed of his driving did slow down a little. He wore the same, displeased expression on his face as he drove back to his own place. Eliza carefully watched Cody’s every move as she slowly edged her slender fingers toward the man. However, she quickly shrank away the moment he threw her a stern glare. After that incident, she sat obediently in her seat without stirring at all. She was waiting for him to question her, but he was someone with extremely high self-control; he managed to refrain from talking to her at all. Hence, no one spoke all the way until the car was parked in the villa.
  • Eliza didn’t have the nerve to ask for Cody to open her side of the car door right then, so she pushed the door open herself. The car door was heavy, and Cody walked off at a quick pace. Eliza struggled to keep up with him, but she didn’t dare to fall too far behind. They had just entered the villa when Cody furiously reached an arm out to grab Eliza’s wrist, slamming her against the door before she could say anything.
  • A sharp pain shot through Eliza’s spine as she hit her back against the door. She observed the man in front of her carefully before she finally found the courage to speak. “Mr. Brooks…”
