Chapter 25 You’re in Love With Cody

• Cody was a tall and lanky man. He took big strides that made it hard for Eliza to catch up with him, especially when he had no intention of allowing her to do so. His car was parked in a parking spot on the street opposite the food stall, and it was located quite a distance away. Eliza felt like she had used up all her strength by the time she finally caught up with him at the corner of the street. Her pale, slender fingers immediately grabbed onto his muscular arms as she called for him with a sweet voice. “Mr. Brooks.”
• “Let go of me.” He gave her the cold shoulder, and Eliza quickly pulled her hand away. Like a child who had just made a terrible mistake, she obediently stood in front of Cody right as he threw her a cold glance. She wasn’t an idiot; she knew that Cody had been suspicious after yesterday’s message. It didn’t take much for Cody to find out where she had gotten the money from. What’s done is done. Eliza didn’t want to quibble or explain herself to Cody, so she kept quiet as she simply planted her feet firmly on the ground in front of him.
• She had been in a rush earlier, so she forgot to bring her scarf and coat along with her. The late autumn weather in Lake City was freezing cold, and Eliza despised the bone-chilling weather. Nonetheless, she forced herself to endure it in front of Cody. Soon, her tightly-clenched knuckles began to turn white in the blistering cold.
