Chapter 31 Let’s Break Up, Mr Brooks

• Cody stood with his hands in his pockets and his lower jaw clenched tightly. His sharp and distinct features made him seem especially cold and heartless. He had never been one to express himself; he was good at hiding all of his emotions. Beneath his sharp gaze lay his carefully concealed feelings that weren’t exposed to anyone else, and Eliza was afraid to see him like that.
• She lowered her gaze and let out a gentle sigh before she looked up with a firm grin and a relaxed demeanor. “Let’s break up, Mr. Brooks. I’ve been with the same man for five years now; I’m bored.” She sounded extremely calm as she spoke, but she was the only one who knew how quick her heart had been racing when those words left her mouth. She felt like all the nerves in her brain had stopped working, and the air fell still around them.
• After what felt like forever, Cody finally spoke in an icy cold tone. “Are you sure about this, Eliza?”
