• “Hmph.” Eliza stuck her tongue out without responding to him. He playfully knocked his knuckles against her forehead before he turned around to greet his own parents. Evelyn and Vincent had already gotten used to Benjamin’s personality a long time ago; they had entered the restaurant to seat themselves at their table.
• “Is Daniel here yet?” Vincent asked once they all settled in their seats. “He was caught in a jam, but he should be reaching soon.” Benjamin gave his father a simple response before he turned to Eliza. “My cousin is here at Lake City for the time being, so he’s joining us since he heard that my parents are visiting,” he explained.
• “Oh…” Eliza nodded. Evelyn proceeded to engage in a long conversation with Eliza while Benjamin watched the two women rambling with a helpless look on his face. He then turned away and chatted with his father for a while.
