Chapter 6 Mr Brooks Has Mysophobia

  • “Where the hell are you, my lady?” Louie sounded like he was about to burst into tears. “Don’t make any trouble; we can’t be late for the scenes that we’re about to film tomorrow.”
  • “I’ll go back right away.” Eliza sounded very calm.
  • Hearing that there was nothing wrong with Eliza’s voice, Louie breathed a sigh of relief.
  • Eliza hung up immediately before comforting Elaine. “I bought a small apartment in Riverhill Town. Live there later on; I’ll dispose of the house here so that Dad won’t be causing you trouble again.”
  • “Eliza…”
  • Eliza patted Elaine’s face. “Be good. I have to go back since I’m running out of time. Do as I say and call me if there’s anything.”
  • Elaine still wanted to say something, but Eliza had picked up her handbag, put her face mask back on, and hailed a taxi to leave right away.
  • 20 minutes later, Eliza showed up at the high-end apartment Louie had rented for her.
  • Much to her surprise, when she pushed the door open and entered, the person she saw was not Louie, but Cody, who was sitting expressionlessly on the sofa.
  • Cody’s gaze darkened slightly; he stood up right away and walked up to Eliza. Gripping her arm tightly, he enunciated with a clouded face, “What happened to your arm and face?”
  • “I fell over by accident.” Eliza found a random excuse since she wasn’t in the mood to explain.
  • Cody didn’t intend to let her off, though. “Tell me the truth.”
  • Eliza glanced at her injuries in the full-length mirror; only then did she notice that she seemed to be in a bit of a mess.
  • However, she soon resumed her nonchalant expression and withdrew her fair-skinned hand from Cody’s large hand.
  • Cody put his hands back in his pockets while looking at Eliza with a steely face.
  • Not bothered by his attitude, Eliza stepped forward and hugged him gently, pressing her messed-up face to his white shirt.
  • She knew that Cody had mysophobia, so she thought he would shove her away without hesitation, especially after so many unpleasant things that had happened.
  • However, Cody merely frowned before allowing Eliza to cling to him.
  • “Mr. Brooks,” Eliza called this man in a whisper. “I was so out of luck today; I scraped my arm and bruised my forehead because I didn’t watch where I was going. But you’re so harsh with me instead of comforting me.”
  • She spoke in a soft and ingratiating tone, like an aggrieved kitten that was acting spoiled in front of its owner.
  • “You deserved it.” Cody still had a cold expression, but his voice had softened without him realizing it.
  • He couldn’t stand Eliza speaking coquettishly in front of him the most, for her coquetry could always greatly satisfy his pride as a man.
  • He had to admit that he was a male chauvinist at heart.
  • Eliza would have fired a few words back at him heartlessly in the past, but she was worryingly quiet on this day. She had never felt so fully secure while listening to Cody’s heartbeat as at this moment.
  • Suddenly, she closed her eyes, stood on tiptoe, and offered her red lips, kissing the corner of his mouth again and again.
  • Her fair and tender hands slid down before resting on the metal button on his leather belt.
  • Cody’s eyes darkened. Grabbing her little hands with his large hands, he lowered his voice to a whisper, asking, “What are you doing?”
  • “I’m propositioning you,” answered Eliza brazenly with an ingratiating smile.
  • Cody’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down as Eliza had turned him on instantly.
  • Eliza didn’t know who was the first to push the other over—when she came to her senses, Cody had pressed himself against her on the soft couch in the living room.
