Chapter 24 I’m Thinking of Leaving the Industry

• I don’t want to make any more pointless sacrifices for a man who has never provided me with the fatherly love I need—I’m not a saint. There are other things I need to do, and there are other people that I have to protect. Eliza felt like all of her energy had been drained; she could feel her entire body turning weak the moment she ended the call. After standing still and calming herself down for a while, Eliza picked her phone up and headed over to the restaurant where she and Benjamin had agreed to meet.
• It called itself a restaurant, but it was really just a slightly more exclusive food stall that provided them a private space with shade. Benjamin wore a baseball cap that was lowered, and he ordered the dishes in a hasty manner. There were a few reasons he enjoyed eating with Eliza; they shared similar tastes in food, and Eliza wasn’t pretentious when eating. In fact, she ate her food ravenously. If I were to share a meal with a female celebrity that thought highly of herself, she would’ve probably ordered a tableful of dishes just to take a picture and nibble bits of the food before claiming that she was full. How disgusting, Benjamin thought.
• Once the waiters served their food, Eliza stuffed her face into the food without speaking at all. After a while, Benjamin couldn’t bear to watch her any longer—he used his chopsticks to steal away the piece of meat that Eliza had picked up first. Finally, she snapped back into reality and stared at the man in front of her. “Aren’t you the one buying me this meal? Why do you look like you’re enjoying it more than I am?” Benjamin gobbled down the piece of stolen meat before he rolled his eyes at her.
