Chapter 34 Eliza’s Boycotted

• Eliza felt her heart racing as her breath turned shallow and ragged. She was utterly terrified, but she refused to show any compliance toward the man in front of her. Who does Cody think he is to speak of me like that? It’s true that I shamelessly got in bed with him for the sake of getting famous. However, I’ve also put in huge amounts of effort into my career. I had to put in thrice the amount of work to learn the skills required—dancing, singing, modelling, script reading—because I didn’t have any prior background in this field. Ultimately, I advanced in my career only because of the hard work I’ve put in; Cody simply provided me with the resources I needed. Does he have the right to question and belittle me just because he gave me the initial support I needed? Tears began to form in Eliza’s eyes as she bit on her lower lip with her straight, white teeth.
• “Eliza, you should be glad that I don’t hit women,” he uttered in a cold tone.
• “Thanks for your mercy. My face is my main source of income in this line of work, after all.” She gave him a perfunctory laugh. But deep down, she was actually relieved—she was afraid that Cody would kill her right there and then. Throughout the past five years, she had never understood him as an individual. She didn’t know a lot about him, and she barely managed to grasp the sort of person that he was. She therefore had to tread carefully whenever she was around him.
