Chapter 32 With the Rest of My Life

• Two days after the breakup, Eliza returned to the production site. She had always kept to herself in the past, but she became even quieter than before. She was a totally different person from the character she played in the film, and the silence she held seemed to distance herself from all the people around her. There were no tantrums, anxiety, hatred or anger. All of her scenes were practically done in a single take; her juniors were stressed and frequently made mistakes in their shared scenes with Eliza, but she only chuckled and retook the scenes without any complaints.
• Winter had just arrived, and it began to snow at Eliza’s filming location. Soon, the entire area was coated with a layer of white. For the final scene of the film, Eliza had to jump into an ice-cold lake. A stunt double had initially been hired for this scene, but Tyler insisted for Eliza to jump into the lake herself. The surrounding temperature was at freezing point while she jumped into the icy lake one take after another. Each time, there would be some sort of issue with the shot, and Eliza was shivering uncontrollably by the time the scene was done.
• When she was brought out of the lake for the final time, she had completely collapsed and lost all consciousness. Her final motion was to wrap her arms around her belly; her pale lips twitched a little, but she couldn’t bring herself to say anything.
