• Serena stood by her bedroom window, staring out. She was back to being locked in again, only this time, Adriano had nothing to do with it—just the crippling fear of being shot at again. She had gotten away the last time without a scratch; who knows, she may not be lucky next time. Whoever tried to kill her was surely going to try again.
• Adriano was so sure Trejo had something to do with it. Could he be right? Would Trejo try to kill her even though they had a deal?
