Chapter 209 A Mistake
- Serena stepped into the cool, polished space of the gallery, her heels echoing softly against the marble floors. The white walls were covered in various modern pieces, mostly abstract paintings. Serena had never really understood abstract art; they were just different splashes of color on a canvas. But she barely noticed most of the paintings as her eyes were fixed on the figure at the far end of the room.
- Martin stood in front of a canvas, his phone pressed to his ear. His back was to her, and he was speaking quietly into the phone. When he finally turned and noticed her, a cold smile stretched across his face-a smile that made goosebumps flood her skin. He ended the call without saying goodbye and slipped the phone into his pocket.
- "Well, this is a surprise," he said. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
