Chapter 118 Diego Is Dead

  • Martin pulled over in front of the thick, towering gates, his heart thudding like a drum inside his chest. He had not been here in over a year, and now, just sitting in the car staring at the gates, he felt the pressure creeping up his spine. He took a deep breath and opened the glove compartment, retrieving the small black recorder. At least he wasn't walking into Trejo's compound empty-handed.
  • He glanced at his reflection in the rearview mirror, ran a hand through his hair to smooth it back, and then stepped out of the car, the gravel crunching beneath his shoes. The two men stationed at the gate were exactly what he expected: broad-shouldered and deadly-looking. Both eyed him with barely concealed suspicion as he approached the gate.
  • "Who are you looking for?" one of them asked, his voice deep and terrifying.
