Chapter 211 Damn You, Serena

  • The graveyard was eerily quiet, except for the soft hum of the wind, which was broken by the distant rustle of trees and the occasional cry of a bird. Serena stood silently at the edge of the grave, not knowing exactly what she was feeling but knowing she was feeling something while standing by Elliot's grave. Her eyes dropped to the tombstone in front of her, which had just two words carved into the small headstone: Elliot Holtz. No date. No epitaph. It looked forgotten, abandoned. The grass around the grave was tall and untamed, with weeds growing like they had claimed the grave for themselves.
  • She swallowed tightly, her grip on the bouquet of white lilies trembling as doubts crept in. Was this really a good idea? This was not the kind of grave anyone wanted for their loved ones, especially a loved one they had spent years searching for. It did not feel like a good idea, but it was the only one she had.
  • This graveyard wasn't part of a public cemetery. It looked more like a private resting place for men who had once belonged somewhere and then were erased and buried without ceremony. It was a place for burying traitors and just hiding bodies. And boy, were there a number of graves. This was not somewhere anyone could rest in peace.
