Chapter 22 I Hate You

• Rita's eyes widened in surprise as the weight of Serena's words dawned on her. "What do you mean by leave?" she shrieked. "I thought you said you would handle this?"
• "That is what I'm doing. Believe it or not, this is for your own good," Serena tried to explain, even though she knew Rita would be anything but reasonable in that moment. Rita was never reasonable when things were not going her way. She would try to make a fuss, and in cases where Serena was involved, Rita would try to wear her down to get her way.
• But not this time. Serena's mind was made up. She had to do the best thing for Rita, and that was to send her away, far away from all this Mafia mess. She had to keep her sister safe.
