Chapter 227 Sorry For Your Loss

  • It had been a week since Anna found Martin in his apartment. Seven long, dragging days that felt more like an eternity. Anna had not remained the same ever since she walked into Martin's apartment and found him dead with his lips sewn shut. She had experienced several nightmares since then. Who would want to hurt him like that? Martin was sweet, kind, and understanding. He did not deserve to die like that.
  • Anna sniffled. Her once bright and tidy room was now a mess, with clothes scattered across the floor, empty glasses and mugs on the nightstand, and a half-eaten sandwich forgotten by the window. The curtains remained tightly drawn, shutting out the sunlight as if she were afraid it would burn her.
  • Anna stayed curled up in bed most of the time, hugging her knees to her chest as if she could hold herself together that way. Her eyes were puffy, her face swollen from days of crying, and her lips chapped. She wore one of Martin's shirts; it smelled faintly of his cologne. She had taken it from his apartment the day she found him, clutching it like it was the last piece of him she could keep.
