Chapter 101 Bring Her Back Alive
- All through the ride back to the cottage, Adriano sat quietly, a storm brewing inside his chest. The landscape of Santorini passed in a blur outside the tinted window, and he barely noticed it. His anger and frustration were slowly being replaced by a crushing feeling of guilt. No matter how much he tried to push it away and assure himself that he had nothing to feel guilty about, the overwhelming sense of guilt still grew.
- If he had just come clean about what happened ten years ago, he probably would not be in this situation now. Or maybe if he had just turned down the Santorini honeymoon, then Serena would be back in his home, in his bed. He wouldn't have to deal with these extra problems. He already had so much on his plate as it was.
- Adriano sighed, rubbing his hand over his face. He never should have returned to Santorini. He thought he could pull it off-slip into town, keep a low profile, spend a week with his wife under the radar, and slip right back out to New Orleans like nothing had happened.
