Chapter 212 What Are You Doing Here?

  • Martin pulled up in front of his apartment building, tires screeching slightly as he slammed on the brakes. He sat still for a second, his jaw clenched so tightly his teeth ached. Then, suddenly, a roar tore from his throat, and he slammed his fist into the steering wheel-over and over, until his fists became sore. His dashboard rattled under the force of the blows, the horn honking uselessly into the night. His chest rose and fell with ragged, heaving breaths, the edges of his vision tinged as waves of anger and heartbreak crashed down on him and threatened to swallow him whole.
  • For three years, he had thought his brother was dead. Elliot had been alive. Alive! And Adriano had kept him prisoner like some kind of animal. Tortured him and made him suffer enough that death seemed like the only escape.
