Chapter 77 Leaving For Badosa

  • Lucy’s POV
  • Not that I owed anyone any explanation but I felt that I should tell Kenneth the truth. He sat down on my bed, his eyes fixed on me. I couldn’t sit down but I somehow did not feel intimidated by his glare. I looked straight into his eyes and he said, “why did you feel that you needed to keep the truth from me though I was there when the Prophet in my kingdom said you weren’t human?” I could have asked him what made him think he had the right to access that information but I didn’t want to cause a delay in fighting with him. Lance had made it clear that we needed to get our stuff and leave. King Pontionne had already called the dean to freeze our scholarship so that we could come back and finish whenever we could. “Did I really have to tell you that?” I asked him and his face was marred with hurt.
  • My heart pricked at that. Ever since I met this extremely handsome guy, I have never spoken to him out of term. We had always respected each other but were very playful with one another. “Do you hate me Lucy? Did your love just die or you never had it? Should I think you were pretending all along?” he said, and now it was my turn to get hurt by those words. If only he knew how I’m still madly in love with him. I wanted to hug him and kiss him like we used to, but I reminded myself that I needed to keep my distance. He was engaged to my arch-enemy. “I don’t hate you Ken, I just have been ordered many times to stay away from you, and this was the only way for me to keep you away,” I told him and he sighed deeply. I figured I had to tell him quickly because we didn’t have much time left to go.
