Chapter 104 Discovering The Unknown

  • Katty's POV
  • We arrived at my father's house where we expected my mother to be but she wasn't there. "She may be with the Queen. They are very close," I said to my father and Turner and they both nod. We teleported to the mansion and dad and Turner decided they needed to talk to the Leo so I had to go find mom. I was nervous, wondering how I was going to break the news to her. I sniffed the air to check if she really was in the castle and her faint lemon scent came from the direction of the queen's chambers. I went there, knocked on the door and waited for the response. Aunt Maggie's voice sounded inviting me in as well as laughing. It must have been a joke they shared. I got inside and greeted them. “Hi baby, you are back?” mom asked and I nod. I was nervous and it must have shown on my face. “Can I talk to you in private, mother?” I asked but she had a mind of her own. “It's okay baby, you can tell me anything in front of the Queen here,” she said laughing. “Besides being my friend, she is also a queen, she is bound by virtue of her status to keep whatever you need kept a secret,” she said and I knew there was nothing I could do or say further. I became even more nervous now because there were two sets of curious eyes now looking at me. 'How am I going to start saying this?' I asked Salma and she told me to just speak and stop getting nervous over something they had to talk about anyway. "Katty, what is wrong? Are you pregnant?" she said and I whipped my head up to look at her. “What?” I said in confusion. How can she ask me this kind of question? I'm still a virgin, how do I get pregnant? I wondered and they both burst out laughing.I could see that they were making fun of me so I relaxed a bit, smiling at them. “Mom, do you know who Helena is?” I asked her. “Yeah, I do. Aren't you just coming back from her evil shrine?” she said nonchalantly. I sighed. “Yes I am but I want to know if you know her personally because she knows you,” I added. “Not that much but I've had an unpleasant encounter with her before, ” she still responded with nonchalance, which showed me that she really didn't know her that well. unless she was just pretending. “Where and when did you have an encounter with her?” I pressed, trying to find how much she knew . “At the Wizardry Academy,” she said. I wondered whether that was where my father might have met Helena also because my instincts told me that there was more to their enmity."So you don't know anything about her other than that she is a dark witch? I asked her again. She creased her forehead and asked me, "what's with this interrogation baby? Is there something more I should know?" she asked , sounding like she was now getting worried by my questions. “She wanted to befriend me, she was new at the college, just after I found out I was pregnant, after your father left but in order to protect you I had to mask my pregnancy and stayed away from her but she went on a smear campaign against me. She was part of the reason I left without a trace. I was afraid she would expose my truth and bring harm to you,” she explained and I now knew she didn't know she was her twin sister. I sighed. “I heard later that she intensified her smear campaign against me even in my absence. Other than that, I know nothing much,” she added.“Didn't you feel any connection to her in any way?” I asked her and she stood up. “Katty, what in the name of an interrogation is this? Why would I feel any connection with an evil witch? She belongs to the dark, I belong to the light. Don't you know that difference by now?” she asked, her hands around her waist and I could tell that she was getting exasperated. “Because she is your sister, mother!” I shouted as quickly as I could, my eyes shut, afraid of how she would react. There was silence for a while until mom and Aunt Maggie burst out laughing hysterically and I guess they expected me to laugh along with them but seeing my serious face, they stopped and looked at me. “Oh baby, what did that witch lie to you about?” mom said and I sighed loudly. Had Salma not played out that woman's truth, I would have reacted exactly the same way they were."She didn't say anything of her own accord mom. Salma made her tell the truth," I said looking at her intently and she saw that I was not joking but telling the truth. She creased her forehead. "You are being serious , aren't you?" she said in a whisper. I nod. "But how?" she asked, still whispering. A dark witch laid a curse on grandma when she was expecting you both, that one you would be a curse dark witch and it turned out to be her," I then explained everything that Helena said. "Is that why she is called Helena? Helena and Malena" Aunt Maggie asked. I nod again. I watched as my mom sat in abandon on the couch that was behind her. I could see the disappointment written all over her face. She looked right into my eyes as if trying to search for a single lie in them.It felt as if she was longing for me to be lying. She knew I was telling the truth but still hoped I would tell her it was all a prank. Her head in between her hands, she rubbed her face which had turned pale. I knew she must have been overwhelmed. I would have been too. “I wish I could wake up from this nightmare! How do I share my DNA with such a person?” she said, sighing too loudly. “Do you know what makes it worse?” she said looking in between me and Aunt Maggie. “What does?” we both asked her.sighing too loudly. “Do you know what makes it worse?” she said looking in between me and Aunt Maggie. “What does?” we both asked her.sighing too loudly. “Do you know what makes it worse?” she said looking in between me and Aunt Maggie. “What does?” we both asked her.
