Chapter 24 Choking

• Four girls from Victoria's circle approached me later in the day, looking shocked and inquiring as to whether I had slept with Tyrone the night before. I tried to ramble a no, but Jasmine Garcia seemed to be furious. Despite acknowledging that I had visited the place the previous evening to discuss a minor issue, her blue eyes narrowed until they were as slender as paper.
• Since I had stolen a teddy bear from a store when I was seven years old, I made a vow to my father that I would never steal again and that there was no purpose in lying to him. The girls looked at each other, smirking in return, and sauntered away from me before I instantly regretted my statement.
