• "Mom! He fails all his classes and cuts the majority of them. He may as well drop out of high school because he's never going to get a diploma! He does nothing in school since Taylor-"
• "And that gives you the excuse to degrade the poor boy? He's your best friend's brother!" Mom snarled, her eyes flaming with rage. She held up a hand to quiet me, frowning at me.
