  • The bright sunshine, warming the entire left side of my face, startled me out of sleep. With a satisfied sigh, I rolled over, curled my toes, and stretched my back before opening my eyes. Two sea-green oceans spread out in front of me. They stretched for miles like the sky on a clear day, meeting the horizon at the tip of the globe. They were a waiting, sleeping, rousing color. With one exception, the sky was the ideal tint of green. I blinked slowly, attempting to get my bearings while my mind pieced together what had happened last night like a hangman game—one word at a time, one flashback at a time. The bright memories caused my cheeks to turn red.
  • With his head propped up on his elbow, Tyrone was drinking in my face and the morning glory. I'm not sure what captivated him more—the muck accumulating around the inner corner of my eyes or the dried drool leaving a track on the corner of my mouth.
  • He smiled contentedly and said, "Morning sleepyhead," as he made soft circles around my stomach. I responded with a grunt, disregarding the heat waves his touch was sending up my flesh. "Aren't you just a chirpy little ray of sunshine?"
