Chapter 161 Wake-up

  • I didn't feel like I was landing, but as the sensation of falling stopped, I spluttered and coughed. My breathing was restricted, and my airways were narrowed by a tube inside my mouth as I felt hands grip my throat and expel every last bit of air from my lungs.
  • My eyes felt tightly closed, like someone had drilled them into that position. I forced them open with great difficulty, but they only let a little light in. Still, it was plenty for my eyes to acclimate to my dreamlike white surroundings. However, the machines surrounding me cast numerous shadows, glaring at me with menacing expressions. Some gave constant beeps, while others fed my arms with lengthy crimson liquid tubes. They were all stiff.
  • My cracked and dried lips let out a little groan. My entire body felt parched, akin to sandpaper. My eyes darted around, desperately searching for something recognizable, but the space was as unfamiliar as a hospital bed.
