Chapter 18 Practical Pairing
- While I worked on the assignment and experimented with some of the simplest cake recipes, like the classic Victoria Sponge cake, Tyrone sat behind his computer playing games on his phone. The next week passed slowly. While doing a million and one chores by myself wasn't difficult and didn't need much work, it was tiresome. I had to monitor the icing, the mixing basin, and the intimidating oven.
- What was most frustrating was that I still hadn't been able to get anything into the oven. I threw all the cake mixes in the garbage since the thought of dealing with the intense heat was too much to bear.
- Fortunately, nobody saw my strange behavior. I didn't know how to stop myself from throwing the entire bowl in the trash can and slamming the oven door shut. But I knew that fairly soon, Ms. Wilson would start to question why there had been such a sharp drop in the number of mixing bowls.
