Chapter 169 Escalated

• My fingertips brushed the smooth linen covering my upper arms and then edged towards the bandage over my neck, moving down my shoulder. My cardigan fell off my shoulders and gathered around my arms as I peeled it back. I raised the linen bandage to reveal the red, parched skin underneath.
• My knees began to shake like crazy, and I had to steady myself by placing my palm on the mirror as a heavy anvil dropped inside of me. I covered the area and told myself to be happy that my burns were no longer oozing blood through my bandages.
