Chapter 86

• Pregnant. I’m going to be a father. I’m in a state of disbelief, unable to stop staring at her as she moves closer to me, slowly wrapping her arms around my neck and drawing me in closer. Followed by awe is a feeling of fear. What if I hurt her? What if I hurt my unborn child? She peers at me intently, before a small smile curves on her lips. It’s as though she can ready my mind as she begins to answer the unspoken questions in my mind.
• “Cody, everything is going to be fine. Nothing is going to happen, I promise.”
• “Don’t make promises you can’t keep” I replied hoarsely, even as my gaze drops to her still flat stomach “and how can you be so sure that you are pregnant?”
