Chapter 100
- I lead the charge. My men are behind me. My hair billows in the wind. I crouch down, eyeing the warehouse. Like Cody and Lilith have stipulated, it’s ruined, the windows cracked and broken, the core of it large and open. There are men guarding the perimeter. Shifters. I sniff them but don’t smell the distinct scent of alphas or even rogues. They are average. I feel Cody beside me as I begin to wave my hand at my men, moving subtly closer, crouching into the foliage to prevent from being seen. The second the first man turns his back I move, grabbing him from behind and snapping his neck as my men surged beside me, taking control of the situation and overpowering the rest of the security detail in silence. Cody remains beside me protectively as I begin to run, making my way inside, where I startle another security guard, quickly shifting in order to take him down as he shifts in response and tries to run.
- I sense somebody behind me, but Cody has already moved, taking down the large wolf with a strength that continues to astonish me. My men begin to join me. Shots run out as the other guards become panicked, attempting to flee. Within minutes all of them have been killed and there are dead bodies lying on the ground. I shift back to human form, one of my men immediately handing me a change of clothes. I silently put them on and then motion to the door in the back where there is a large chute slowly descending downwards. So big it fits up to four of us side by side easily. I go to lead the way when Cody grabs my hand. He shakes his head.
- “You promised me you would hang back” he growled when I went to object, trying to shake my hand out of his grasp.
