Chapter 33

• What do you say to a queen who has lost her king? Not just any king, but her own father? What made the situation worse was the implication and the knowledge that somebody had caused Maximillian Goldberg’s death. Somebody had done the unthinkable and poisoned him. Killed him. The pain of that knowledge was devastating, and I felt helpless as there was nothing, I could do to soothe the rage that kindled beneath my mate’s breast and pounded silently in her heart.

• Naturally Thomas was leading the ceremony. My mate, stood beside me, a stoic expression on her face as she tried hard not to show the pain, she was exhibiting by being so close to her father’s remains.
