Chapter 38
- When are you going to tell him? Lilith’s voice echoed inside my mind as I hesitated, turning my chair to stare blankly at the window. Those simple words evoked memories inside my mind, memories that I had tried hard to keep under control. It wasn’t easy being the Lycan Queen, but it had been made irrevocable harder and all because of one man, one man that even now caused me pain inside, the kind of pain that would never heal. I had never told anybody about Alpha Leon, except for Lilith and I had hoped to take the memories to my grave. After all, what kind of woman wants to remember being rejected by the man that’s meant to be her mate?
- Flashback.
- The war has only just begun, and I’ve travelled far, my exhaustion plain to see by the expression on my face. I seek sanctuary at the closest pack I can find, the Silver Linings Pack, allies in my attempt to bring all the packs into order and find peace and harmony. I’m covered in blood from my latest battle, my men just as tired as I am as we pass through the gates and meet the Alpha in charge, Alpha Mason.
