Chapter 48
- Naturally the first thing I did was explore every nook and cranny of the room, for any sign of evidence, not to mention looking for surveillance cameras and audio equipment. It was what I would do if I were in the Alpha’s shoes and if history had taught me anything, it was to always pre-emptively think about your enemy and what they would do. As I struggled to find anything, I headed into the bathroom, aware that time was slowly ticking by and that any minute now, Beta Rick could reappear. I showered, enjoying the hot water, before padding back into the bedroom, taken aback when none other than the man himself appeared to be standing in the middle of the room, a bemused expression on his face. I was not pleased to find him there but remained calm. He was hardly likely to try anything so early on in our arrival.
- Aware of my cover, I opened my mouth to scream but he quickly shook his head at me, placing his hands up in surrender. I hesitated, before slowly shutting it.
- “Forgive me,” he said hastily, the tips of his ears turning red in embarrassment, “I was under the illusion that you were already finished preparing,” he added.
