• The ground is littered with bodies of rogues, several of my men are injured. I see my men dragging Cody out of the carriage, his arm torn to shreds and blanch. I had been so busy fighting off the rogues I had failed to see the danger that my mate was facing until it was almost too late. I rushed to his side. To my relief he was still breathing. He was merely unconscious. My men are grim faced. We were lucky there were no casualties on our side. As it was, we are lucky if we make it back to the castle by nightfall. I exhale deeply.
• “We need to take care of the injured first. We could shift, but those that are capable may need to assist those who will need it. We will have to make our way slowly back” I instructed heavily.
• Thank God we were Lycans. Our healing power would kick in but not before we were forced to move on. We couldn’t afford to remain here any longer. We would be sitting ducks and if a repeat attack were to happen, then I knew we would not be likely to make it to the castle with all of us intact.
