Chapter 21 Cody Pov
- One minute they were insulting my mate and the next it’s as though I feel this indescribable anger rushing through me. All of them, care nothing for her needs or what she wants. The last straw is when that man, Xavier, told the council to put my beautiful mate in her place. It was as though something had possessed me. I could feel my body shaking and then, I was moving, faster than I ever thought possible, my hand reaching out to grasp the snooty son of a bitch by the neck and then without hesitation, without considering the implications of it, shocked I had managed to pick him up without even feeling any strain, my arm took over and propelled the bastard through a nearby window.
- I stared down at my hand feeling unexpectedly shocked. I was in a state of disbelief. I barely heard the rest of what my mate had to say to the council members before she was dragging me outside, her burst of laughter like music to my ears.
- “I can’t believe you threw that bastard through the window. I was growing angry myself but you…” she trailed off and eyed me consideringly, “you took that anger for me and did what I would have done. Thank you,” she told me quietly, “for standing up for me like that. Do you feel okay? I mean, don’t take this the wrong way,” she added hastily as we walked down the corridors, “but I didn’t think you were capable of such strength and you’re still recovering,” she realized, her eyes widening, her hand reaching out for my arm and examining it carefully as I stared at her, my body heating from her touch.
