- I should have put a stop to it. I should have known that something was going to go wrong. As I watched my mate collapse to the ground, I rushed to his side, bending down to ensure he was still breathing. He was, although his pallor was remarkably pale and there were dark circles beneath his eyes. To my shock, King Julian wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me backwards, away from him.
- “You need to wait and see if it worked” he growled when I tried to pull away from his grip which was like a vice.
- “He collapsed. There’s no way it’s worked” I tried to argue, still fighting weakly against his hold.
