Chapter 31
- I stare at the man looking so helpless on the bed, his face so white it’s almost transparent. I had seen him in the throne room before and he had been filled with such vitality. How was it possible he had grown so sick in such a short amount of time? It was impossible. Lycan’s rarely got sick. He was the King and stronger than any man I knew. I hovered by the bed as he lay there, fixing his eyes on me, the council men of course in attendance as well, frightened the king would pass.
- I reach for my father’s hand and am hurt when he pulls away, although by now I should have expected it. I wince slightly and then fix my eyes on him, used to his rejection of me by now.
