• “Kayla, you must not go wondering off alone. I need to know where you are at all times. You are living under my roof. I want no excuses, you are to follow my rules,” my grandmother rants while I stare into the beautiful kept gardens. Her words go in one ear and out of the other. I nod my head in what I think is the relevant place.
• Since when has it been a crime to take a walk?
• “Kayla, are you listening to me?” Her annoyed voice brings me out of my thoughts.
