Chapter 51
- Louis had informed his cousin about the information he received from his informants. “I dare say that the convictions that were handed our way,” he said, lowering his head slightly, “were true! The investigation has not been completed. I would not admit this in front of Miss O'Brien, but everything she spoke of was accurate.” He rubbed his hands down his face. “This is partially due to our arrogance and the infiltration of our ranks. As we speak, militants are checking all border controls, and all ports are being investigated. I have my best team assigned to this task.”
- He briefly recounted the information Iris had mentioned. “If the allegations Miss O’Brien raised have any truth to them,” he exhaled heavily, “we are going to need more than just a few heads! I’ve been informed that it’s not the mouth of Whispering River that concerns us, as it is not as wide as other lakes and rivers. We could easily travel from one territory to the next. However, it is the length of the waterway that worries me. James, I don’t know how to say this, but we might need to call on our allies for assistance. I can easily send a few units to the mouth of Whispering River.”
- Alpha King James glared at his cousin as he recounted everything that had transpired in a short amount of time. He was determined to address the rising threat posed by the Alpha Black O'Donnolys movement in a way that adhered to the law. As he stared at his hands, his mind raced with various possibilities to prevent what seemed to be an impending attack from Alpha Black O'Donnoly. "He's going to force my hand!" the realization hit him like a slap across the face. "Isn't he?" Alpha King James muttered aloud.
