Chapter 5
- Alpha Black O’Donnoly’s bodyguards had swept through the suite. To his surprise, there were no bugs to record any activity during his stay at the Capitol. Alpha Black O’Donnoly snorted, not knowing if he should find this comical or insulting. Regardless of the situation, he wanted to proceed with the business at hand. Sending a quick message to the lawyer, he let him know that he had made it to the capital and was waiting for his arrival.
- While he waited for a reply from the lawyer, Alpha Black O’Donnoly began pushing his weight around. Ordering food, complaining about the smallest of things, and most of all, snarling at the servers, realizing that they were males and not females. Already realizing that the manager of the establishment was going to keep the females as far away as possible.
- As he and the men were devouring the food that had been brought to the suite, Alpha Black O’Donnoly received a text message from the lawyer. This indicates that he will be there within 30 minutes. Slamming the phone down back on the table, he continued to eat. Not impressed that it would take the lawyer that long to get to him. Moreover, Alpha Black O’Donnoly was irritated that it took the lawyer well over two hours to respond to his message.
- It did not take long for the men to eat their fill. Having the table cleared off. Glaring at his watch, more than 15 minutes had passed since the point the lawyer was to arrive. Alpha Black O’Donnoly Growled, not pleased with the delay. As he glared out the window, he could see the people strolling around. Oblivious to his observation. ‘Things will change once the crown is on my head!’ he grimmest as he pivoted on his heels. Looking at the conference table. Pulling out a chair, Alpha Black O’Donnoly sat down. As the seconds ticked by, Alpha Black O’Donnoly was growing more impatient. To his knowledge, the case against his son and pack members had begun the Friday that had passed. The prosecutor spoke to the jury, outlining the charges that were laid against his son and pack members. His speech was strong and powerful, capturing the jury's attention.
- When it was time for his son's lawyer to speak. He made sure that he had presented the speech that Alpha Black O’Donnoly had scripted for him. Prior to the court appearance, the jury that had relatives of the Myingan pack had been approached. Making sure they understood what would happen to the relatives if his son and pack members were not released and acquitted of all charges. But that was not the focus of the meeting today with the lawyer. Alpha Black O’Donnoly wanted an update on the location of the witnesses. He gave the order for all of the witnesses to have a little visit. A reminder of why it is essential to do as he ordered.
- Alpha Black O’Donnoly motioned his head and the direction of where the elevators were located. He listened to the ding of the elevator, the sliding of the door open, and heavy footsteps directing the lawyer toward where he was sitting.
- The lawyer bowed to Alpha Black O’Donnoly, giving the respect that he demanded.
- His eyes were narrowed on the plump man. “Well!?” Alpha Black O’Donnoly did not wait for the lawyer to sit down nor place his briefcase on the table provided in the room.
- The lawyer lifted his head. He could feel the beads of sweat forming on his forehead. Knowing the following report that was to come out of his mouth would displease Alpha Black O’Donnoly. “Mr. Collins has made sure that the whereabouts of his witnesses are well hidden.” He placed His briefcase on the table, not daring to sit unless he was given permission. “My informant has also informed me that all interviews and conference meetings have been secretive. The prosecution team are not gossiping about the case. There was only one piece of information that she had gathered. The prosecution team have an unknown witness.”
- Alpha Black O’Donnoly wrapped the rings on his hand off of the table. He could feel the rage building up inside. With his nose flaring, “How is it impossible to find the witnesses? There are only so many places that they could be hidden. I have already given you the addresses of those locations. Mr. Dawson … Are you seriously that incompetent.”
- Mr Dawson's heart was rapidly pounding in his chest. Beads of sweat rolled down off of his forehead. “I know the orders that you have given were not completed as you instructed,” he stuttered. “But the Alpha King has taken a keen interest in this case. Making it impossible to comply with your request. As you already know, the first few witnesses will be taking the stand tomorrow morning. The judge had ordered the hearing to begin at 9:00 in the morning.”
- Alpha Black O’Donnoly snorted the air out of his nose angrily, “Did you at least have a conversation with Mr. Collins? Were you capable of at least following through with that order?” he bellowed, causing Mr. Dawson to lower his head and cower.
- Mr Dawson was stuttering. His jaw opened and shut as he tried to find the words to speak. Again knowing that Alpha Black O’Donnoly would not be pleased when he reports to him. “I did, Alpha! Mr. Collins will not take the bribe. He informs me that he is going for the harshest punishment that possibly can be handed down to the accused. Your son is also to pay the same price as his fellow pack numbers. In Mr. Collin's words, ‘I will not be rattled by the likes of you. You and your kind are the reason why I support the death penalty. I will not bend the knee nor will I back down. Those who, you, defend will meet the harshest punishment possible. I will see to it myself!’ Mr. Collins also claimed he had enough evidence to show without the need of the witness's testimony.”
- Alpha Black O’Donnoly snorted again, “he still has to prove without a doubt that my son and pack members had intended harm. It could be disputed wrong place, wrong time!” he held his head high. “You have less than 12 hours to find those witnesses. Getting to recount their statement and find out who this mystery witness is!”
- Mr. Dawson bowed, grabbing his briefcase. He was thankful to have been dismissed. Rushing out of the location, he quickly pressed the elevator button. He tapped his foot on the floor as he patiently waited for the door to open. The second it opened, he rushed in, pivoting on his heels, and quickly pressed M for the main floor. He was all too happy to leave the building.
- Alpha Black O’Donnoly was beyond furious. This was a report he was not expecting. Brushing his fingers through his hair, he took a deep breath. In the other cases against his pack members, it was easy to have the case dropped. Any witnesses had either gone missing or were willing to take the bribe to shut their mouths. He figured that this situation would have been no different than the other times. Then again, the other times, his son had not been arrested. The other times, Alpha King James had not shown any personal interest in the court cases. “This is just a subtle setback … nothing I can't handle!” he spoke out loud to no one in particular.
- Growling, Alpha Black O’Donnoly picked up his phone. Sending a message to the judge who presided over his son's case. He scrolled through the latest picture of his wife and grandchildren. A message underneath states he knows their location. Sending the message, Alpha Black O’Donnoly smiled to himself, pleased that if anything, the Judge was in his pocket.
