Chapter 11

  • Iris rolled over in bed. Picking up her phone, her vision blurred. She noted it had been a quarter after five in the morning. Pushing the sheets off of her, Iris began to stretch. She might have been done with school until September rolled around, but her body did not know she could sleep an hour longer.
  • Iris’s mother was so kind as to label each outfit according to the day it was to be worn, making things a lot easier for her to coordinate. The biggest issue Iris had was knowing what to wear and what not to wear. Her sense of style was poor, almost nonexistent. If Iris had it her way, she would wear black pants and a plain tan top all the time. When the weather called for it, she would wear her long black jacket for extra warmth. If it weren’t that, she would be wearing camo. A bow in one hand, arrows carried on her back and a blade connected to her hip. She was, in the best of terms, the furthest thing from a lady, regardless of how much her mom tried in the years she had been with her father.
  • Pulling out the outfit labelled Monday, Iris smiled as she noticed her mom had picked out a business suit. The blouse, being violet with light tan pants, fit her better than she thought. “Thank you, mom!” Iris whispered.
