Chapter 28

• Alpha King James had dismissed everyone. As he watched Iris stand to her feet, he said, “Iris, I would like to speak with you alone!” He then watched Jayden’s worried expression. “Mael, if I am not at the dining table by 7:30, start eating without me!”
• The room was silent. Their eyes were locked as Alpha King James and Iris waited for the door to be closed. He leaned back in his chair, noticing how relaxed Iris appeared. Many would be shaking in their boots if they had been asked to remain. The fear of being reprimanded is always on their mind. He was accustomed to everyone saying things that would please him, and their actions were the same. Not with Iris. She struggles with what she is to do and what her nature bids of her.
