Chapter 49

  • I'm jolted awake by faint rustling sounds. Harvey’s figure is hazy in the dim light coming in from the window. "Oh, sorry for waking you up. Go back to sleep," he says, planting a kiss on my temple as my vision clears. He's rummaging through his suitcase and isn't fully dressed yet. "It's alright, I'm up now. How about I make you some coffee while you get ready?" I suggest, sitting up. "That would be amazing. Thanks," he says, giving me a peck on the lips before heading into the bathroom.
  • When I come back with a steaming cup of coffee, the aroma of which is making me regret not making myself one, harvey is scurrying around the room. He looks absolutely stunning in his navy blue suit, making me envious of all the girls who will be seeing him like this. "My, my. It should be illegal to look that good in a suit. I'm already jealous!" I joke.
  • "Like this," I say with a small laugh, but harvey doesn't turn around and continues to rush around grabbing things here and there. His response of "Not now, Matilda" sends a pang of hurt through me, and it's even more upsetting to Jade. I try to comfort her, saying "Calm down, he is clearly stressed," but I'm starting to worry about him too. His stress level is already so high and he hasn't even gotten to the conference yet.
