Chapter 26
- I'm jolted awake by the loud rumbling of thunder. I roll over and grab my phone to check the time. It's around six, so I must have been asleep for almost an hour. After the emotional conversation with Harvey this afternoon, I was exhausted and in need of some rest. I get out of bed and head to the shower. I wait a few minutes for the water to heat up and then step in. The hot water droplets feel amazing on my skin, and I'm soon lost in a wave of relaxation. I come to my senses when the water starts to get cold and realize I've been in there for too long. I dry off and apply some moisturizer before getting dressed in black tights and a loose drop shoulder sweater. I leave my hair down and slip on some fluffy socks. It's still dark outside, making it hard to tell what time it is. My stomach rumbles loudly, almost as loud as the thunder outside. I grab my phone and hurry down the stairs, not paying attention to where I'm going. I almost slip on the last few steps, but manage to keep my balance. Harvey, who was watching TV, looks over at me with a clenched jaw, but relaxes when he sees I'm okay.
- "Look who's finally here! I was starting to get worried," he says.
- "I know you're obsessed with me," I joke, "but I was only asleep for an hour. Calm down." I plop down on the couch next to him.
