Chapter 69 Breaking Point

• Hazel knew she was cooked once she got home. Ambrose had no doubt gotten her text, but he wasn’t the only one waiting for her in the Dominic mansion. Her father, mother, and brother were present, and they all glared at her like she had committed the worst sin imaginable.
• Just then, as she stared at them speechless, her father walked up to her and slapped her across the face, right where she had the bruise Ambrose had previously given her. She tasted blood in her mouth; her face stung, and the tears she had tried so hard to keep within her all day flowed from her eyes like a waterfall.
• In that moment, she kept thinking she should have gone with Logan. She should have dropped everything and run away with him because there was nothing worse than what was happening now—and the more she thought about it, the more she realized that what was about to happen to her was even worse. She would no doubt be locked up even more; all the freedom that Ambrose had given her would be snatched away.
