• “This cannot be happening Mom!” Hazel tossed her phone to the wall and watched it scatter to pieces as tears fell from her eyes. She had been breaking things since the night Zade announced he had secretly married Elora. She visualized herself strangling Elora a million times already. She wanted Elora dead and gone.
• She had broken almost every valuable thing in her room already but she didn’t care and neither did her mother. The Emmersons were filthy rich. Anything Hazel could have broken could be replaced easily and in the blink of an eye.
