• Princess Ashina took a deep breath and then let it out slowly to calm herself. It was only normal for all attention to fall on her as she was one of the most important people in the kingdom and also, the last person to step into the room. She might not have known what was going on, but she knew it could not be about her. She had done nothing after all. With these thoughts that put her mind at ease, she bowed before the entire gathering with a sweet smile and then made her way to her seat, which was just beside Juan's. The council members were at their tables. The Prince and Princess had thrones at the head of each table, and on a raised platform at the corner of the room was the Alpha's throne. With furrowed brows and a palm on his cheek, he looked over everyone else. The moment Ashina took her seat, she heard Juan suck in a sharp breath. She looked over at him and noticed his jaw was clenched at the side of his face. Still, he had yet to turn to see Ashina, and now it was clear he was doing it on purpose. Also, the Prince didn't look very pleased.
• What have I done? Ashina thought. The Princess cleared her throat.
• “Good morning, Juan. It's unusual how we haven't seen each other since this time yesterday, don't you think? Oh well, any idea what this impromptu meeting is about?” Ashina asked naturally, acting oblivious to the Prince's frown.
