Chapter 72 King Roy's Fury Pt2

• Ashina and Juan had spotted silver stools in a corner. Juan brought them both to the Alpha's bedside and they both sat. The two had their faces glued to the ground with sad looks like they were children about to get a scolding from their mother. Well, the actual case wasn't too far off. Also, it was more frightening. Even in his sick state, King Roy's fury sent chills down the spines of whomever it was directed at. Juan found a tiny part of him relieved that he wasn't well enough to morph into his werewolf form and show them the true anger he felt. A pang of guilt hit him for finding relief in the king's present condition. The Prince and the Princess could feel his apoplexy. They could've sworn they could even inhale it. It had made the well-ventilated room suddenly seem stuffy. For the umpteenth time, Ashina forced down a gulp of saliva, and several droplets of cold sweat had gathered on Juan's forehead. The fact that he was yet to begin his scolding even added to their fright. The silence was terrifying. Well, it was for their good. The Alpha took his time to calm down as if he spoke too soon, it wasn't going to be good for anyone. It was going to be worse for him. He cleared his throat.
• “So, Juan. Tell me why the council relayed a message to me, showing their utmost displeasure at how you are treating them. Mind you, not just one of them sent this. Not Gifford, not Vaslof. The whole council put their heads together and delivered this complaint to me... not in person, of course,” he started, fighting to maintain his low, somewhat calm voice. Juan exhaled.
• “Father, it was Darco. I learned that he was trying to put asunder this marriage that both of our kingdoms had poured so much time and effort into. Of course, I couldn't bear it! I mean, you know what this union means to us all? I couldn't contain my anger that day, and unluckily for him, I had to appear before the council,” Juan explained in a careful but sturdy voice, obviously hoping for his father to see the reasonable excuse that backed his actions. King Roy nodded.
