Chapter 29 Decker's Desperation

  • "Decker," Ashina muttered under her breath. She stood still with her jaw slack due to the shock. Decker stood by her door, staring back at her with an emotionless face. The surprise had driven Ashina's dizziness away. Her heart now pounded. Though she had longed for him for quite a while, Ashina didn't think she was going to see Decker that night.
  • "Hey, Ash... Princess. A moment please?" Decker finally asked, breaking the awkward silence between them both. He knew not to call her by her name when they were not alone.
  • "Sure! Sure! Jasmine, please ex... excuse us," Ashina stuttered as she snapped back to reality. The tension between Ashina and Decker had Jasmine's attention, and she did not wish to leave. Her princess had given order so reluctantly, she took a bow and walked out, leaving the room to Ashina and Decker. Now they were alone, and Decker took slow steps toward Ashina. He had a light smile, but Ashina could still see the despondence in his eyes. For some reason she was yet to put a finger on, Ashina felt the urge to break down in tears. Seeing him up close now, Ashina noticed Decker's look. His reddish-brown hair was unkempt, his face pale, and his lips chapped. He seemed worn out.
