Chapter 24 Morticia

  • Ashina could not feel the tension as it existed only between Prince Juan and her maid, Morticia. All Ashina felt was confusion. The way Juan seemed stunned by her entry into the room, The way he stared at her with surprise and shock, he failed to mask. The way Morticia's eyes widened at the sight of him and then fell to the ground abruptly Morticia wondered just what was up with the both of them. All she could do was a wonder, of course. She lacked the nerve to ask Jaun as she wasn't comfortable with him yet. She also couldn't ask Morticia as she was that one maid she was not getting along with.
  • Ashina also wondered if Morticia's not getting along with her had something to do with Prince Juan. As if now aware of his excessive staring at Morticia, Juan abruptly turned back to Ashina. Ashina almost let out a gasp as his face showed a feeling she thought someone of his demeanour could never have. The way his pupils bounced around as he could not hold Ashina's stare, the sweat that had gathered on his forehead, the way he fought to maintain a normal breath. If she hadn't seen it, Ashina would never have believed that the pompous brat of a prince she knew would ever get like this.
  • "Uh, I... we... Ashina, we haven't said much, but yeah, we are heading somewhere. Let's... let's talk more some other time!" He stuttered nervously and forced a smile. All Ashina did was stare at him. She failed to give him a reply as she was bowled over by his strange attitude. Seeing that he wasn't getting any reply, Juan turned and walked away briskly. Quickly, Morticia took several steps away from the door, giving Jaun more than enough space to leave. He made sure to not look at Morticia anymore as he exited the room.
